Champions of youth: Trainees

Champions of youth: Trainees

There is no doubt that young people hold the future’s potential. Whatever role you may play in a young person’s life, it is likely that you want to see them blossom and make many achievements. For many young people, the thought of the typical university route is not for them. However, there are so many other ways into work; ways in which they can develop practical skills and knowledge that can be the stepping stone into their first job.

With youth unemployment at a high, it is essential that young people are able to develop a skill set that can support their entry and ability to remain steady within the job market. The key to this is giving young people a solid package of the essentials, as a supplement to their individual needs and talents.

Traineeships are relatively new education concepts that provide young people with the basic skills and appropriate practical experience to enter the world of work. The primary aim of these courses is to ensure that young people are ‘work ready’ so that they may harness their talents to land themselves their first step onto the work ladder. Traineeships provide an entry route to apprenticeships and many other job prospects. The skills the young person will develop really could lead them anywhere.

And the traineeship experience also encourages the development of soft skills. Each young person will be given a platform for growth and self-development- be it self-confidence, time management or flexibility. Young people can develop these skills in both individual and team work, throughout the length of the training. They will also develop functional skills in English and Mathematics; all of which will be supplemented by a work experience placement.

E-Achieve can offer all of this over a 10 week period. So, if you know a young person who wants to develop their skills and become ‘work ready’, direct them our way.

*Funding is only available for:

  • 19 to 23 year olds
  • Unemployed and claiming a state benefit
  • Without a level 2 qualification, and without work experience
  • Ready for employment or an Apprenticeship within 6 months
